Your NP in Psychiatry-—Psychiatric Care for New Yorkers, Wherever You Are in the State
Frequently asked questions
To become a new client, the first step is to schedule a free 15-minute consultation call. During this call, we will discuss your needs and determine if our services are the right fit for you. If we decide to move forward together, we will guide you through the next steps to officially start.
On this 15-minute call, we'll talk through what you're experiencing, your health history, and any medications you've tried before — what helped, what didn't, and what side effects you dealt with. That history matters, and it shapes where we start. The call also gives you a chance to ask how we work and what evidence-based care looks like here. If it feels like a fit, we'll schedule your full psychiatric evaluation.
You don't need a referral to get started. Reach out directly to schedule a consultation, and we'll figure out the right path for your care together.
We offer both in person and virtual sessions. Our virtual sessions are conducted through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform. This allows you to receive therapy from the comfort of your own home or any private space, making it convenient and accessible.
How long treatment lasts depends on your diagnosis and how you respond to medication. After your evaluation, we'll map out a plan — what we're starting, and how often we'll check in. Visits are usually more frequent early on while we find the right medication and dose, then less frequent once things are stable. We'll revisit the plan at every appointment and adjust as your needs change.
If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, we ask that you provide at least 24 hours’ notice. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice are subject to a cancellation fee. Please contact us directly to manage your appointment changes.
No. Your NP in Psychiatry focuses on psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and medication management. We do not provide psychotherapy or counseling services. Many patients work with a therapist for talk therapy while we manage the medication side of their care, and we're glad to coordinate with your existing provider. If you're not currently working with a therapist and would like to be, we can offer referrals to licensed therapists in New York. Combining therapy with medication management is often more effective than either approach alone for conditions like depression, anxiety, and PTSD, and many patients find the split-care model works well — one provider for medication, one for therapy, each doing what they do best.
Yes. We regularly coordinate with therapists, counselors, and social workers as part of collaborative care. With your written consent, we can share relevant clinical information to keep your treatment aligned. Let us know your therapist's name and contact information during your initial evaluation.
No. Therapy is not required to receive psychiatric medication management. Some patients see us for medication alone, while others combine it with therapy. During your evaluation we'll discuss what approach fits your situation and may recommend therapy if it would benefit your treatment.
